Day 1- The road to recovery

Hello all. We want to thank everyone for the support and messages we have received so far. Dad gets a smile on his face every time a new message comes through. Today is the day we begin Chemo. We met with the nurses yesterday and got an in-depth run down of what to expect. We also got to see the treatment room which is full of floor to ceiling windows. I told dad I was jealous because I don't have a single window in my classroom, and he gets 6 hours of sunlight! Dad wanted me to share his thoughts this morning:

"I'm sitting in "my chair" with a heated blanket and the chemo blanket Hannah knitted me keeping me warm. The Chinese proverb "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" jumped into my thoughts. Although I've had many doctor's visits and procedures so far, I feel like today is officially day 1 of my journey back to good health and as normal a life as the many talented doctors will work together to provide. My headspace is feeling strong and positive. It's time to face this beast head-on."

So we begin day one of chemotherapy. Keep sending those messages and leaving positive notes. Maybe even give dad your recommendations for shows/movies he can binge as he is sitting in the chair.

I second Ted Lasso, also Only Murders in the Building, Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Netflix has a good catalog of stand-up. Agents of SHIELD and the MCU (D+ has them in order). Galavant if a medieval musical comedy sounds interesting. ESPN's 30 for 30 usually does a good job drawing me in even when I don't watch the sport or know the people. The Expanse is really good Sci-fi. If you're into slow-burn anti-hero drama then Ozark, Better Call Saul, the Americans.

I wasn't sure what you watch so I casted a large net with some range. Hopefully there's some distractions in there for you. Wishing you the best through this fight.
